There are less than 150 vendors in the BPM industry. These include modelling-tool specific vendors, business-rule specific vendors, bpm consultants, and pure-play BPM software vendors.

BPM Vendors divide into two categories: Microsoft platform software and non-Microsoft platform software (java based).

Microsoft has selected twelve BPM vendors to comprise a select group of the Microsoft Business Process Alliance including AmberPoint,Ascentn,Fair Isaac,Global 360,IDS-Scheer,ILOG,InRule,K2,Metastorm,RuleBurst,SOA Software and PNMsoft.

There is only a handful of BPM Vendors that have a complete BPM solution that includes: modelling, execution, monitoring, optimisation and simulation.
